10 months

Parker, you are 10 months old.  Only 2 months away from your first birthday!  I can't believe how fast you are growing up.
This is such a fun age!  You are crawling like a mad man.  Into everything you aren't supposed to be in.  Your favorite is Sissy's water and food bowls.  You make a beeline for those every chance you get.
You also love playing with her toys.  So far, she doesn't really mind as long as it keeps you from trying to play with her.
You love to eat, we haven't really found anything you don't like yet.  Your favorite foods are blueberries, sweet potatoes, and beans.  You are doing great with finger foods!  You are also finally sleeping through the night.  At least 75% of the time anyway, I will take it!  Your latest tricks this month have been learning to wave bye bye and blowing rasberries with your tongue.  You are  standing up with a little help.  You also love bathtime and would stay in there all evening if we let you!

Parker-man, we love you to the moon and back sweet boy!

Bluebonnets!

We went to visit Nana in West Columbia this weekend and the bluebonnets down there are already in full bloom.  There was a great field in their neighborhood and Karen and I were itching for some photography practice, so we plopped down our willing, photogenic subject and shot away.

Maybe once the bluebonnets hit Austin, I will try to get some with Parker and Sissy.  That should be a good challenge :)

Back on the Blog

Poor blog, you have been so neglected.  I'm going to try to find time to update on here, mostly for myself as I know I will want to look back on these posts.  So much has happened since my last post in June.  Parker was only 1 month old, now he is almost 9 months!!  He has gotten so big and doing so many new things.  Eating solids, army crawling, and babbling to name a few.  He is such a happy baby, we are so blessed.  Here are a few of his month pics for catch up.

One month old!

You are one month old sweet boy!  This past month has flown by and you have already grown so much since you were born.  You were seven lbs, 9 oz when you were born and then dropped down to 6 lbs, 15 oz.  As of last week, you weighed 9 lbs, 4 oz.  Growing boy!  You are really a pretty easy going baby.  Sleep is not great yet and you have your occasional fussy times, but overall not bad!  You are a good nurser, almost too good.  Sometimes you feel like a little barracuda, ouch!  You love to be in your car seat and almost always fall asleep in it.  You don't like sleeping in your crib (or rather mama can't handle you being that far away yet) or pack n play so we bought you a new little rock n play that you sleep a little better in.  You have had your fair share of outings.  We have been to a movie at Baby Day at the Alamo Drafthouse, a Reckless Kelly concert at Nutty Brown, a pool party at April and Blake's and lots of trips to Target!  We love you so much and can't imagine life without you!

Everyone asks how Sissy is doing, since she has been our only "baby" for the past 8 years.  She is pretty indifferent.  When Parker cries, she will sometimes come over and check him out, but overall doesn't seem to be too affected or jealous yet.  I'm sure she will be much more interested in him once he starts eating solid foods :)

Introducing Parker Lance Logue!

Born May 18th at 5:38 PM, 7 lbs 9 oz, 21 inches long

I went into the hospital like this
And came out with this!

Parker's Birth Story- I wanted to document this more for my own memory than anything.  Warning- may be long and rambly...

We decided at my 39 week appt to go ahead and induce that week at 39 weeks 6 days.  We were supposed to go into the hospital for Cervadil (to dilate my cervix) on Thursday night at 5pm and then start pitocin the next morning.  Well, Thursday at 4:30, the hospital called and said "don't come in yet, we don't have a bed ready for you.  Call back at 7:00."  So, we rented a movie and went for a walk.  Called back at 7:00 and they said still no room, call back in an hour.  An hour later, yup, still no bed.  They finally called me at 9:00 pm and said okay, go ahead and come on in.

By the time we got in to the hospital and all checked in, it was about 10:30.  It was apparently too late to start the Cervadil, so we would be using a different medication- Cytotec instead.  My nurse checked me and I was 1.5 cm dilated which is what I had been for the past 2 weeks.  She placed the first dose of Cytotec at midnight.  That night was the worst sleep ever.  The bed was so uncomfortable and I was so big and uncomfortable.  She came and checked me again at 4:00 am and I had not changed at all!  She went ahead and placed another dose of Cytotec.  Pretty quickly, I could feel some changes.  I started having some moderate back pain.  My nurse helped me get on the birthing ball which helped with the pain.

I had gotten back in to bed around 7:00 am when I felt my water break.  Almost immediately, I started having much more painful contractions and back pain.  I knew things were going to be painful, but I guess I was not expecting it to be so painful so quickly!  Ryan wanted to call the nurse, but I knew they were in the middle of shift change and she would be in shortly.  I told him I could wait for awhile.  Umm, 15 minutes later, I decided I could not wait any more.  I was ready to get my epidural!!  He called in my nurse, who checked me and said I was most definitely having active contractions and was dilated to 4 cm!  She started the bag of fluids I had to get before the epidural and I tried sitting on the birthing ball again.

Around 8:30, the anesthesiologist came in to place my epidural.  I was in heaven afterward!!  No more pain!  Ryan and I relaxed and watched TV for the next few hours and visited with my mom who had gotten there about 11:30.  Around 12:30 pm, my doctor came by to check me.  9 cm!!  Still loving the epidural!  An hour later I was complete and almost ready to push.  My doctor had another patient ready as well, so my nurse said we would wait until she had delivered to start pushing because she didn't think I would take long. She said the head was very low, and she didn't expect me to have to push for more than 30 minutes or so...

Soooo, we started pushing at 2:00 pm.  And pushed.  And pushed.  Apparently Parker was face up and his forehead was stuck on my pubic bone.  I pushed for a little over 2 hours and then his heart rate started dropping with the contractions.  My nurse told me we had to take a break.  She put oxygen on me and we just had to wait for 20 minutes or so.  Also in the past hour, my epidural felt like it had stopped working.  Each contraction was sooo painful, but it was probably beneficial that I could at least feel the muscles I needed to push.  After a 20 minute break and laboring through the painful contractions, my doctor came in to discuss our options.  Option 1 was continue pushing for another hour.  "Ummm, am I going to be able to accomplish anything with that," I asked her?  Probably not-  lets skip that option.   Option 2 was using a vacuum device to help pull the baby out.  Comes with some risks, but she felt like we could be successful with it.  Option 3 was go ahead with a C-section.  I was sooo tired and just wanted the baby OUT.  But I really did not want a C-section.  Especially after laboring all day.  So we went with the vacuum.  It took 3 full contractions of pushing but finally Parker Lance Logue was born at 5:38 pm!  We are in love with him :)

Here we go!

So one of my favorite past times is reading blogs.  I figure now that we have a baby on the way, we need a way to share some photos and news with friends and family.  Hopefully I can keep this blog updated.  2 1/2 weeks to go until we meet our little guy or girl!  We have pretty much done everything and are now in wait mode.  Here are some pics of the nursery and a 37 week belly pic.
